Hysopt & SPIE Netherlands join forces for a fossil-free future

At Hysopt, we place a strong emphasis on nurturing valuable partnerships. A prime example of a successful and collaborative relationship is with SPIE Netherlands. The collaboration commenced in 2021 and has since resulted in a series of impressive projects. This has enabled both parties to look back on a journey of technical excellence and shared success. The future holds even more engaging and technically challenging projects.

Hysopt's Digital Twin serves as a crucial tool for SPIE in meticulously mapping HVAC installations. It not only provides insight into the systems but also accurately identifies the root causes of operational issues. Through these advanced analyses, SPIE can methodically dissect the most effective solutions.

This not only leads to avoiding unnecessary costs but also contributes to significant efficiency improvements. Thus, Hysopt's contribution complements SPIE's years of practical experience.

A fossil-free future

Implementing Digital Twin technology empowers SPIE to broaden its customer portfolio with convincing expertise and innovative insights regarding advanced climate systems. In collaboration with its clients, SPIE develops detailed strategies aimed at achieving a fossil-free operation by 2030. This ambitious goal is supported by the guarantees stemming from the advanced analyses and assurances provided by Hysopt's technological solutions.

The Digital Twin offers the opportunity to make informed adjustments where necessary. With our software, SPIE can meticulously substantiate why an HVAC system is not performing optimally. This also enables them to inform the endcustomer convincingly about the specific challenges and shortcomings of the installation.

With the gathered insights, SPIE can then swiftly devise a clear action plan. This not only accelerates optimisation but also provides the end customer with clear and technically substantiated solutions.

An impactful approach

In practice, it often comes as a surprise that there is considerable improvement potential in existing buildings. With Hysopt's support, SPIE can provide in-depth insight into these possibilities within a few weeks. What makes this process particularly powerful is that SPIE can then internally translate these insights into concrete implementations, without external intervention.

The achieved results are impressive. In addition to transitioning to sustainable energy sources, collaboration with Hysopt often leads to significant reductions in energy consumption and costs (CAPEX/OPEX).

A striking example of a successful project is the synergy between SPIE and Hysopt at UWC in Maastricht. Here, the existing installation was thoroughly examined, and the entire building management system meticulously optimised. The analysis revealed that the transport pumps were set too high, an issue that, thanks to the collaboration with Hysopt, could be remarkably easily addressed: by ensuring that the correct water quantities were directed to the correct locations within the HVAC installation, without the need to replace installation components.

The result was impressive. Without relying on gas anymore, the building is now fully heated by the existing heat pump. This resulted in an overall energy reduction of up to 38%, accompanied by a reduction in CO2 emissions by 48%. The transport pumps now show an energy reduction of over 50%, leading not only to substantial cost efficiency but also significantly improving user comfort.

"The collaboration with Hysopt is going very well. We are well supported, and questions are answered quickly and substantiated. This is the only way to enter into a partnership, and we rate it a 10!" says Harold Machils, energy and sustainability consultant at SPIE.

A glimpse into the future

The strategic collaboration between SPIE Netherlands and Hysopt will be implemented throughout the entire organisational structure of SPIE Netherlands. The main goal is to jointly make progress and generate value in both the short and longterm, focused on business growth.

Regarding applications, SPIE aims to use Hysopt's optimisation software even more intensively during the pre-design phase. This offers the advantage of avoiding a traditional and often costly one-to-one replacement. SPIE is committed to installations they fully support, and thanks to Hysopt, they can now make informed decisions for optimal performance, a crucial factor in their pursuit of quality.

In collaboration with SPIE, Hysopt has found an essential ally for the alignment and efficient commissioning of climate control systems. The integration of Digital Twin technology facilitates precision in the initial configuration of valves and pumps, ensuring optimal performance from the outset. This synergy between SPIE and Hysopt promises to be at the forefront of further innovating and refining installation processes in the near future.
